Como su nombre indica, aquí solía haber un transbordador que cruzaba el Leie. Hacia 1825, el transbordador fue sustituido por un puente de madera, que en 1900 fue reemplazado por un puente de pizarra y hierro. El actual puente de arco de concreto (1927) es, junto con la Antigua Abadía, cuya historia se remonta al siglo VII, un monumento protegido. A la altura del Puente de Pont se encuentra el Viejo Pozo del Leie, el extremo más septentrional del Viejo Leie.
