El Conservatorio real de Bruselas —surgido a partir de una escuela de canto establecida desde 1813 bajo el Imperio napoleónico en Bruselas, después de una École royale de Musique instituida en 1826 por Guillermo I de los Países Bajos— data oficialemente de 1832 [1] y es desde entonces la más alta escuela musical y teatral de Bélgica, gracias a personalidades como François-Joseph Fétis, su primer director, François-Auguste Gevaert o Joseph Jongen.
