El Torfbroek es el único pantano de cal de Flandes que ha quedado en pie, con diferentes especies de plantas que aquí tienen su última ubicación remanente.
En varios lugares aún se puede ver claramente la estructura histórica de drenaje para el prado de heno.
Esta área vale absolutamente la pena una visita, especialmente en junio, cuando un mar de orquídeas te saluda. La Meerlaan (Nederokkerzeel) cruza la Berggstraat. Al final de la Meerlaan se encuentra la entrada del área natural.
