Het Torfbroek is het enige bewaard gebleven kalkmoeras van Vlaanderen met verschillende plantensoorten die hier hun laatste overgebleven vindplaats hebben.
Op verschillende plaatsen is nog duidelijk de historische ontwateringsstructuur voor het hooiland te zien.
Dit gebied is absoluut een bezoek waard, zeker in juni, wanneer een zee van orchideeën je begroet De Meerlaan (Nederokkerzeel) kruist de Berggstraat. Aan het einde van de Meerlaan bevindt zich de ingang van het natuurgebied.
