El diseño es de los hermanos arquitectos André y Jean Polak. Fue construido entre 1964 y 1966 por encargo de la compañía de seguros Assurances générales de Trieste, hoy en día Generali, y su filial De Nederlanden van 1870.
La torre tiene una altura de 84 metros y cuenta con 24 pisos. Con ello, fue uno de los primeros edificios en Bruselas que superó los 80 metros.
