La Batalla de Courtrai vio a las tropas del Reino de Sajonia de Johann von Thielmann y a algunos prusianos encontrarse con una fuerza imperial francesa bajo el mando de Nicolas Joseph Maison cerca de Kortrijk, una ciudad al suroeste de Gante en lo que hoy es Bélgica. Thielmann atacó solo para encontrarse frente a la mayor parte del I Cuerpo de Maison. La acción terminó en una derrota de los sajones, la mayoría de los cuales estaba bajo fuego por primera vez.
