Según la leyenda, en 1610 en Elzele fueron quemadas cinco brujas. En recuerdo de estas almas condenadas, cada año, el último sábado de junio, se lleva a cabo el sabbat de las brujas. La plaza y las calles del centro están llenas ese día de brujas, músicos demoníacos, comediantes, hombres lobo y otros personajes misteriosos.
