El helecho águila es el helecho más grande de Flandes. Muchas personas consideran esta planta como una mala hierba porque puede dificultar la regeneración de un bosque. Sus grandes hojas quitan mucha luz del suelo del bosque, lo que dificulta la germinación de los árboles jóvenes. El origen de su nombre quizás lo puedas descubrir con un poco de imaginación: imagina las hojas de los helechos como las alas desplegadas de un águila. Y, por supuesto, el águila es la más grande entre las aves, ¡así como el helecho águila es el más grande entre los helechos!
