Este árbol debe haber comenzado a crecer alrededor del año 1675 a partir de una bellota. Fue en ese año que el famoso Johannes Vermeer, pintor holandés, falleció a la edad de solo 43 años. En ese periodo (siglo XVII), la situación en los Países Bajos del Sur era bastante problemática. Esta área experimentó una sucesión de guerras, destrucciones, asedios, saqueos y bloqueos. Atrapada entre las grandes potencias, la región fue dejada a ejércitos en conflicto en alianzas cambiantes. Pero a este arbolito no le importa. Crece con firmeza.
