El histórico edificio barroco fue construido en 1714 para la familia Van Kersschaever. La fachada es un sitio de patrimonio clasificado y monumento protegido. La actual escuela fue establecida en 1850 por el obispo de Gante, Mgr. Louis Delebecque.
En tiempos anteriores, también había educación primaria y un internado, que cerró en 1971. En 1969, fue una de las primeras escuelas que abolieron la educación segregada por sexo en Flandes.
Desde la década de 1990, el número de estudiantes se ha mantenido estable alrededor de 1000.
