La Holsteen es un término genérico para ocho grandes areniscas. La investigación científica demuestra que estas areniscas ricas en sílice se formaron a partir de arena marina que se depositó allí hace 15 millones de años. En una de las piedras se pueden ver surcos que se formaron por el pulido de herramientas y armas prehistóricas.
