Este camino hueco es uno de los últimos existentes en la región de Bruselas. Su forma hueca se debe al antiguo y repetido paso de personas, así como al escurrimiento de agua de lluvia. Con sus taludes cubiertos de vegetación, este sendero es un refugio para muchos animales, como los mamíferos cuyas madrigueras son visibles en ciertos lugares. También sirve como un corredor ecológico a través del cual pueden ir de un espacio verde a otro.
