El Viejo Escalda ha quedado tras un corte artificial de un meandro del Escalda a finales del siglo XIX. Después de años de enarenamiento, se creó agua abierta nuevamente en 2002 a través de la Agencia para la Naturaleza y los Bosques de Flandes Oriental.
Puedes caminar libremente alrededor del bosque del dominio adyacente. Un punto de partida se encuentra en la Calle Principal frente al número 171.
