De Oude Schelde is overgebleven na een kunstmatige afsnijding van een Scheldemeander op het einde van de 19e eeuw. Na jarenlange verlanding werd via het Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos Oost-Vlaanderen opnieuw open water tot stand gebracht in 2002.
Je kan vrij wandelen rond het aanpalende domeinbos. Een startpunt bevindt zich in de Hoofdstraat tegenover huisnummer 171.
