El mirador enfoca tu mirada en un coto, detrás del cual se extendía la inhóspita brezo (ahora una autopista). Los pintores colocaban allí, después de un día en el brezo, sus caballetes y maletas, y luego caminaban 1,5 km hasta su alojamiento 'El Emperador'. Heymans pintó el coto en 1890 y lo llamó 'La casa roja'.
El gran cuadro es de Heymans El trigo en Wechelderzande y muestra el cultivo típico de este pueblo, trigo en lugar de cebada. La canción burlesca de los pueblos vecinos para el Wechelaar era: 'Wechelderzande, tierras altas, graneros altos, pero nada para fuego en el interior.'
