Este bosque tiene una rica historia, todavía hoy se pueden ver algunos restos históricos . Están, por ejemplo, los numerosos “motes”, pequeños relieves del paisaje alrededor de los cuales se ha cavado una gran fosa o muro .
En el centro se construyó una pequeña casa de madera y barro para albergar a una familia campesina y sus animales . Gran parte del bosque todavía se talaba en el siglo XIII y los escombros eran una forma común de construir y vivir. La tierra fue entonces limpiada y reforestada.
Los nombres de los motes son Wolvemote , Ernetsmote, Molenwal. Eso
Incluso las parcelas del bosque a menudo tenían nombres extraños . Por ejemplo está el Groote Meersch, Paardenhoofd, Iron Swamp, Eikvijver,… Nunca sabremos qué pasó aquí en el pasado, pero seguro que suena muy misterioso… Y si escuchas atentamente por la noche , puedes oír al eterno cazador soplando el bocina...
