En este cruce vale la pena echar un vistazo a los adoquines. Es lógico que estén aquí en la pendiente del cruce. Estabilizan el camino y facilitan el ascenso en condiciones meteorológicas adversas.
El cuarzo fue extraído, como puedes imaginar, al sur de Tienen. En la prehistoria se comerciaba con él mucho más allá de su área de origen como puntas de flechas y lanzas. En la Edad Media, la piedra se utilizó para iglesias y otros edificios importantes. Desde finales del siglo XVIII hasta el período de entreguerras, se utilizó como adoquín para caminos, especialmente en estas regiones. Debido a su color rojizo, se le conocía como 'Cabeza de Napoleón Roja' o 'Cabeza de Zorro de Tienen'.
La piedra es una rareza geológica. Se formó a través de una compactación de sílice hace millones de años.
