La fuente del Dijle está a aproximadamente un kilómetro del centro del pueblo de Houtain-le-Val (cerca de la frontera de Henao y Brabante Valón) a una altura de 145 metros. Es un río de manantial, que además del agua de su propia fuente también recoge el agua de numerosos afluentes y arroyos. Antes de que el Dijle llegue a Sint-Agatha-Rode, ya ha recibido el agua de Thyle, Train y Orne. En Sint-Agatha-Rode, el agua de la Laan (también Lane y Lasne) fluye hacia el Dijle; en Sint-Joris-Weert ocurre lo mismo con Nethen. En Neerijse, el IJse fluye hacia el Dijle y en Oud-Heverlee, el Vaalbeek. Sin embargo, hay pocas inundaciones en esta parte de la cuenca del Dijle: a diferencia de los ríos de lluvia, el suministro de agua en los ríos de manantial es bastante constante a lo largo del año.
