El aspecto actual se formó en gran parte en el siglo XVIII, la nave se amplió en 1872 y la torre occidental actual también data de 1872 , pero una vez hubo una iglesia románica; los hallazgos arqueológicos confirman rastros de sus predecesoras.
La iglesia combina elementos del Barroco tardío y del Clasicismo , especialmente en el interior y el mobiliario: el altar mayor con estatuas de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, San Juan Evangelista y San Pedro; medallones de los cuatro Padres de la Iglesia. La barandilla del comulgatorio, también del Barroco tardío, cuenta con diez (¿once?) paneles de madera tallada y representaciones simbólicas de la Eucaristía. El órgano data originalmente de 1870-1876 (Lovaert) y fue reparado tras los daños de la guerra y ampliado en la década de 1950. La pila bautismal de mármol (blanco y negro) data de 1783, con una cubierta de latón de 1784.
