En el centro de la plaza se encuentra el Schauspielhaus o Konzerthaus. Construido por el arquitecto Schinkel en 1818. Se ha dejado inspirar especialmente por los estilos arquitectónicos griegos, fíjate en las columnas y los tejados en punta, como si se tratara de un templo. Un edificio verdaderamente clásico. Lo interesante es que cuenta con una entrada cubierta para los visitantes del teatro que llegaban en carruaje: se podía entrar directamente desde el carruaje al auditorio. Lo llamativo de este edificio son las decoraciones. La cuadriga en la cima tiene un par de depredadores en lugar de los habituales caballos. Y la escalera está flanqueada por un fauno tocando la trompeta sentado sobre un león, junto a la musa con arpa sobre una leona.
