In the middle of the square stands the Schauspielhaus or Konzerthaus. Built by the architect Schinkel in 1818. He was particularly inspired by Greek architectural styles, just look at the columns and the pointed roofs, as if it concerns a temple. A truly classical building. What is nice about it is that it has a covered entrance for theatergoers who arrived by carriage: one could simply stroll from the carriage into the hall. Nice about this building are the decorations. The chariot on the ridge has a team of wild animals instead of the usual horses. And the staircase is flanked by a trumpet-playing faun seated on a lion, next to the muse with a harp on a lioness.
