Heidelberg es una ciudad situada en el valle del río Neckar en el noroeste de Baden-Wurtemberg . Es famosa por su centro histórico con el palacio de Heidelberg y por tener la universidad más antigua del país ,[3] por lo que es un importante centro cultural y destino turístico.
Heidelberg tiene 150 000 habitantes. Es una «ciudad-distrito» y al mismo tiempo sede del distrito de Rin-Neckar que la rodea en la densamente poblada región de Rin-Neckar-Dreieck que incluye las ciudades de Mannheim y Ludwigshafen situadas a menos de 30 km.
