Rosenthal fue un distrito rural independiente y una comunidad rural en el norte de Berlín hasta la formación de Gran Berlín en 1920. El pueblo fue mencionado por primera vez en un documento en 1356 como Rosendalle.
Con la incorporación, la mayor parte fue asignada al nuevo distrito de Reinickendorf. La parte más pequeña se convirtió en el barrio de Berlín-Rosenthal en el nuevo distrito de Pankow.
