Saarbrücken es una ciudad de Alemania, capital y municipio más poblado del estado federado del Sarre.
Está asentada en la orilla del río Sarre, en el suroeste de Alemania, y se trata de una ciudad fronteriza que limita al sur con la región francesa de Lorena. Gracias a la libertad de movimientos en territorio de la Unión Europea, Saarbrücken se ha convertido en un nudo de comunicaciones y colabora de forma activa en varias agrupaciones europeas de cooperación territorial junto con Francia, Bélgica y Luxemburgo.
