La abadía de Gengenbach era una abadía perteneciente al círculo suabo dentro del Sacro Imperio Romano.
La abadía benedictina en Gengenbach fue fundada alrededor del 725 por el rey franco y conde Ruthard. Desde 820 fue un monasterio imperial. El emperador Enrique II donó la abadía en 1007 a la diócesis de Bamberg.
