La Cueva Dechen es una de las cuevas espectaculares más hermosas y visitadas de Alemania. 360 metros de los 870 metros de la cueva han sido acondicionados para los visitantes, comenzando en el lugar donde, en 1868, la cueva fue descubierta por dos trabajadores ferroviarios. Los trabajadores dejaron caer un martillo en una grieta de roca que resultó ser la entrada a una cueva de estalactitas mientras buscaban la herramienta perdida. La cueva lleva el nombre del Oberberghauptmann Heinrich von Dechen (1800–1889), en reconocimiento a su contribución a la investigación de la geología del Rin y Westfalia.
