La Agencia Europea de Seguridad Aérea es una agencia de la Unión Europea formada a partir de la antigua JAA . Empezó a operar en el año 2003 a partir de la Regulación Europea . En la actualidad, esta primera regulación ha sido derogada. Tiene sede en Colonia , y tiene más de 600 empleados de toda Europa. A medida que la agencia se afiance más en el futuro, mayores contratos con especialistas y administradores se llevarán a cabo.[1] La función principal que tiene esta agencia es unificar los estándares comunes de aeronavegabilidad en los Estados miembros de la Unión Europea, así como velar por la protección medioambiental en la aviación civil.
