La piscina fue construida en 1959. Al principio, estaba planeada para el campamento adyacente. En 1968 se instaló un sistema de calefacción de petróleo para calentar el agua. A medida que cada vez más visitantes diarios comenzaron a utilizar la piscina, se empezó a cobrar entrada. Debido a las ráfagas de arena, fue necesario proteger la piscina de contaminaciones con una pared de tablones.
