La desolación minera de Altenberg se refiere a una ciudad desaparecida y un sitio arqueológico en la montaña del mismo nombre, entre el barrio Littfeld de la ciudad de Kreuztal y el barrio Müsen de la ciudad de Hilchenbach, en el distrito de Siegen-Wittgenstein, en Renania del Norte-Westfalia.
El nombre "Altenberg" aparece por primera vez en los registros escritos de Siegerland en un documento del 12 de julio de 1290. Ya en el siglo XII se extraían plomo, plata y minerales, y la larga historia terminó en 1965 con el relleno del pozo de la máquina.
