La fuente del mercado de la ciudad vieja, en tiempos recientes a veces también llamada fuente de María, se ha situado en el mercado de la ciudad vieja en Brunswick desde su construcción a finales de noviembre de 1408. Junto con el león de Brunswick, la fuente del mercado de la ciudad vieja es uno de los pocos monumentos independientes de rango internacional en la ciudad.
Es una fuente de tres cuencos de estilo gótico tardío, que, como se puede leer en el borde del cuenco inferior en latín, fue fundida en el año del Señor 1408 en la víspera de Santa Catalina, es decir, el 24 de noviembre de 1408. El material utilizado para la fundición es plomo de Rammelsberg, ubicado a unos 50 kilómetros al sur de la ciudad, cerca de Goslar.
