La Steinhuder Meer-Bahn AG operaba una línea de ferrocarril de 52,7 kilómetros de vía estrecha desde Wunstorf pasando por Steinhude, Bad Rehburg, Stolzenau hasta Uchte, y una línea de seis kilómetros, inicialmente de tres carriles, luego solo de vía estándar, desde Wunstorf hasta Bokeloh.
El 21 de mayo de 1898 se puso en funcionamiento el primer tramo desde Wunstorf con estación terminal en el Hotel Ritter hasta Bad Rehburg. Otros tramos siguieron el 29 de octubre de 1898 hasta Rehburg Stadt, el 9 de diciembre de 1898 hasta Stolzenau, el 1 de abril de 1899 hasta Nendorf y el 2 de mayo de 1899 hasta Uchte Kleinbahnhof.
