La abadía de Fraulautern fue un convento regulado de mujeres canónicas de las agustinas para miembros de la nobleza, que se fundó en el siglo XII y existió hasta su disolución durante la Revolución Francesa. Las abadías vecinas más significativas eran Busendorf, St. Avold, Glandern, Weiler-Bettnach, Mettlach, Tholey, St. Arnual y Hornbach. Los centros espirituales vecinos eran Trier y Metz. El edificio del monasterio que pertenecía a la abadía estaba ubicado en el actual distrito de Fraulautern en Saarlouis y está parcialmente conservado. Se utiliza bajo el nombre de Im Alten Kloster por la escuela primaria de Fraulautern. Después de la Revolución Francesa, el edificio sirvió como ayuntamiento del municipio hasta la incorporación de Fraulautern a Saarlouis en 1936.
