La iglesia de San Nicolás, dedicada al santo, en Brilon es una iglesia monástica barroca de una sola nave. Se construyó entre los años 1772 y 1782 y es uno de los últimos edificios del Barroco y Rococó en Westfalia.
Con la fundación de la ciudad de Brilon por el arzobispo Engelberto I de Colonia, también comenzó la construcción de la iglesia parroquial. Una prueba de esto es que ya estaba en uso en 1248. La ciudad en auge desarrolló amplias relaciones comerciales y se convirtió en miembro de la Hanse. En este contexto, no es sorprendente que en honor al patrón de los comerciantes y navegantes, el santo Nicolás, se erigiera ya en el siglo XIII una capilla. Tras un incendio, la capilla fue reconstruida en 1299 en el mismo lugar. Esta capilla estaba un poco por debajo de la iglesia actual.
