El monasterio de Varlar, a menudo también denominado convento, fue una fundación de canónigos premonstratenses establecida por los condes de Cappenberg en la región de Münsterland. El convento, que fue transformado en el castillo de Varlar, se encuentra en la comunidad de Varlar en el distrito de Osterwick. La comunidad allí existió aproximadamente desde 1123/24 hasta la secularización de 1803. Después, el monasterio pasó a manos de los condes de Wild- y Rheingrafen en Salm, quienes asumieron la mayor parte de los amplios bienes eclesiásticos y fueron también, durante un breve periodo, señores territoriales.
