La antigua oficina de correos principal de Essen estaba situada hasta la inauguración del nuevo edificio en la estación principal en 1903 en Burgplatz 1 y 2, donde hoy se encuentra Lichtburg. También había la oficina 2 en Limbecker Platz 3 y la oficina 3 en Schützenbahn 56.
