La finca Muthagen está ubicada en la carretera federal 221 en Geilenkirchen-Boscheln, al sur del castillo de Breill. El patrimonio arquitectónico existente de la instalación data de los siglos XVII y XVIII.
La propiedad fue mencionada por primera vez en 1292 con Christian von Muthagen. Después de 1400 perteneció a un Gryn von Aldenhoven, en 1452 a un Thewis von dem Balken y entre 1460 y 1470 a un Seitz von Horrich. Los propietarios en el siglo XVI fueron Qurin von Brempt, Franz von Ferken y Adam von Hochkirchen. En el siglo XVII aparecen como propietarios Wallraf von Schaellert y la familia von Hülsberg. En 1740, Muthagen pasa a ser propiedad de los condes von Goltstein, quienes venden la finca en 1820 al Sr. Fremery de Eupen. Más tarde, se menciona a un Sr. Meyers como propietario. Alrededor de 1873, Muthagen pasa a ser propiedad del juez de paz y del conde prusiano Bernhard Paul Friedrich Hugo von Scheibler y su familia.
