El río Esprea[2] o Spree es un río de Alemania que se comunica por medio de canales navegables con el mar Báltico y se ensancha en Berlín formando un puerto fluvial. Serpentea por buena parte de la ciudad y sirve de marco a varios de los edificios más emblemáticos. Es un afluente del Havel, afluente a su vez del Elba.
El río nace en los montes de Lusacia, cerca de la frontera entre Alemania y la República Checa, y fluye hacia el norte atravesando Berlín, la capital alemana, donde confluye con el Havel tras de un curso de 403 km. Entre Cottbus y Lübben se divide en un sistema de canales de navegación que da origen a una región boscosa y pantanosa.[1]
