Finow es desde 1970 un distrito incorporado en el borde occidental de la ciudad de Eberswalde en Oberbarnim.
Finow se formó en 1928 mediante la fusión de la aldea Heegermühle, mencionada por primera vez en 1294, con los municipios independientes de Eisenspalterei-Wolfswinkel y Messingwerk, y fue declarada ciudad en 1935. En 1970, se produjo la fusión de las ciudades de Eberswalde y Finow bajo el nombre de Eberswalde-Finow.
