El Instituto Friedrich Engels es una escuela de educación secundaria con perfil lingüístico ubicado en Berlín, Alemania. Este Gimnasio se destaca por ofrecer el español como primera o segunda lengua extranjera. En esas clases la enseñanza en las asignaturas de geografía, historia y ciencias políticas se imparte también en español.
Fue fundada el 5 de abril del 1905 como Höhere-Gemeinde-Knabenschule , revalidado en 1911 como Reform-Realgymnasium . En 1938 fue renombrado Manfred-von-Richthofen-Schule . Inmediatamente después del final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, todavía en el mayo de 1945 la escuela fue reabierta, en adelante también para las chicas. Por iniciativa de las autoridades militares soviéticas se realizó el siguiente renombramiento el 28 de noviembre de 1945: con ocasión de su quincuagésimo aniversario la escuela adoptó el nombre Friedrich-Engels-Schule . Aunque el distrito de Reinickendorf formó parte del sector francés unas semanas más tarde y los ciudadanos de Berlín Occidental abrigaban reservas sobre cualquier tipo del ideario socialista —Engels fue parte de la doctrina estatal en Berlín Oriental—, ese nombre sobrevivía todo el tiempo de la Guerra Fría. Solamente el término "escuela" fue sustituido por "gimnasio" en 1970.
