El gimnasio "F. F. Runge" en Oranienburg es una escuela pública bajo la administración del distrito de Oberhavel. Es el gimnasio más antiguo de la región y abarca los grados 7 a 12. El patrocinador del nombre es el químico Friedlieb Ferdinand Runge, quien trabajó y vivió en Oranienburg. El lema del gimnasio es "Tradición - Variedad científica - Tolerancia". El edificio principal está hoy bajo protección de monumentos.
La asociación Aktion Courage otorgó al gimnasio Runge en 2002 el título de Escuela sin racismo - Escuela con valentía. La responsabilidad de este patrocinio escolar fue asumida por el director del Museo Judío de Berlín y ciudadano honorario de Oranienburg, W. Michael Blumenthal. En 2004, la escuela salió triunfante de un concurso de la editorial UNICUM y fue reconocida como Escuela del Año 2004. Para apoyar el gimnasio, en 1992 se fundó la Asociación de Amigos del Gimnasio F. F. Runge de Oranienburg e. V.
