Schnarsleben, que fue anexionado a Niederndodeleben el 1 de julio de 1950, limita directamente al norte con Niederndodeleben. Junto con Niederndodeleben, forma una zona de asentamiento unificada. Al norte de la localidad se encuentra el Großer Wartberg, la elevación más alta de la Börde de Magdeburgo.
Una primera mención documental de Schnarsleben tuvo lugar el 28 de junio de 1152. En este documento, el obispo Ulrich de Halberstadt confirmó al monasterio de Hillersleben sus propiedades. La construcción de la iglesia del pueblo de Schnarsleben, San Esteban, que aún existe hoy en día, comenzó en la segunda mitad del siglo XII.
