El puente Fehmarnsund es un puente combinado de carretera y ferrocarril que conecta la isla de Fehmarn en el mar Báltico con el continente en Großenbrode. Gracias al puente Fehmarnsund, inaugurado en 1963, y al puerto de ferry Puttgarden, construido al mismo tiempo en Fehmarn, el tiempo de viaje promedio en la llamada ruta del vuelo de aves de Hamburgo a Copenhague se ha reducido considerablemente.
El puente abarca el estrecho Fehmarnsund, que tiene aproximadamente 1300 m de ancho y se constriñe a 963 m mediante rampas de un total de 337 m de longitud en ambos lados. El puente Fehmarnsund tiene una abertura libre de 240 m de ancho y 23 m de altura sobre el nivel medio del agua para el tráfico marítimo. La superestructura del puente es una esbelta construcción de acero con tres elementos constructivos:
