El faro de Helgoland se encuentra en la zona alta de la isla de Helgoland. Muy cerca hay una torre de señalización. El faro fue construido durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial como torre de flak o puesto de dirección de flak y se puso en funcionamiento en 1952 como nuevo faro en sustitución del antiguo, que fue destruido en la guerra. La torre tiene el faro más potente de los faros alemanes, que se puede ver en noches despejadas a una distancia de hasta 28 millas náuticas.
