La Samtgemeinde Elbmarsch se encuentra en el extremo noreste del distrito de Harburg en Baja Sajonia. La sede administrativa es el municipio de Marschacht.
En el norte de la Samtgemeinde, las localidades se extienden a lo largo del dique del Elba desde Drage hasta Avendorf. Las largas aldeas en línea se integran sin problemas. En cambio, las aldeas de Bütlingen, Eichholz, Oldershausen y Hunden tienen una mayor distancia espacial entre sí. En general, encantadores paisajes de marisma con prados y canales, así como el Elba y el canal de Ilmenau con sus diques, dan forma al rostro de Elbmarsch. La agricultura y la cría de ganado todavía tienen un alto valor en esta zona. También el deporte ecuestre y la cría de caballos están tradicionalmente arraigados en Elbmarsch.
