La aldea de Langenholtensen se encuentra inmediatamente al norte del núcleo urbano de Northeim. Se sitúa entre el bosque de Edesheim al norte, el Rethoberg al noreste, el Fachberg al este, el Galgenberg al suroeste y el Sultmerberg al oeste a una altitud de 115 a 150 m sobre el nivel del mar. Al sur de allí, al otro lado del Rhumetal, se encuentra Wieter.
A lo largo de Langenholtensen fluye el Düne de norte a sur, en el que desemboca, en el extremo sur de la aldea, el Leimkebach que proviene de Brunstein, tras lo cual el Düne desemboca, a los pocos cientos de metros, en el afluente oriental de Leine, el Rhume.
