Pretzsch fue una ciudad independiente hasta el 30 de junio de 2009 y desde el 1 de julio de 2009 es una localidad de la ciudad de Bad Schmiedeberg en el distrito de Wittenberg en Sajonia-Anhalt.
Pretzsch se encuentra en medio de las llanuras de Elbe, en la orilla occidental del Elba y en el borde noroeste del Parque Natural de Dübener Heide en el estado de Sajonia-Anhalt. Las ciudades cercanas son Bad Schmiedeberg, Kemberg, Torgau y la ciudad de Lutero Wittenberg. En una mayor área se encuentran Jessen y Bad Düben.
