La planta de agua de Canitz es la más grande de las plantas de agua operadas por los Servicios Municipales de Agua de Leipzig. Suministra aproximadamente un tercio de la cantidad de agua disponible en la ciudad de Leipzig.
La planta de agua se encuentra en la orilla derecha del Mulde, a unos tres kilómetros al noroeste de Wurzen, en el pueblo de Canitz, que desde 1963 es parte de la comunidad de Thallwitz. La distancia a Leipzig, que está al suroeste, es de unos 23 kilómetros.
