La localidad abarca aproximadamente 1900 hectáreas y consiste principalmente en áreas boscosas, con gran cantidad de pinos sobre suelos arenosos. Cerca del lugar pasa el canal lateral del Elba. Allí se encuentra la zona recreativa de Bernsteinsee, que ocupa 100 hectáreas y tiene un lago de alrededor de diez hectáreas. Cerca del lugar también hay un aeródromo del Aero-Club Wolfsburg e. V.
Stüde ganó atención regional en 1975, cuando allí, el 8 de agosto, un incendio forestal y de turba se salió de control, saltó pronto al canal lateral del Elba y se convirtió en el más extenso de los catastróficos incendios forestales de ese verano.
