Niederrad se encuentra al sur del Meno, a unos 2,7 km de la Hauptwache de Fráncfort, y limita al norte con el barrio de Gutleutviertel, al este y al sur con Sachsenhausen y al oeste con Schwanheim. Al sur está rodeado por una parte del bosque urbano de Fráncfort.
El distrito está principalmente designado como área residencial. Incluye el asentamiento residencial Bruchfeldstraße, que se desarrolló en la década de 1920 bajo el urbanista Ernst May, así como el asentamiento Adolf-Miersch y el asentamiento Mainfeld. El poder adquisitivo es de 22.067 euros por habitante.
