El fuerte fue construido como una luneta cerrada. La instalación estaba diseñada para dos batallones de infantería. El plano del Fuerte Hooksiel se asemeja a un trapecio. Tiene una longitud de 210 metros de suroeste a noreste, con un ancho de 110 metros. El foso, que se encuentra bien conservado hoy en día, lleva agua y tiene un ancho de 10 a 30 metros. En el noroeste de la instalación aún se pueden ver dos pequeños tramos de la antigua muralla, que tiene una altura de 1,2 metros. En el centro de la instalación había una obra de infantería.
